The City Councillor of Tourism of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Pablo Barbero, and the director of the Department of National Destinations of website www.muchoviaje.com, Carlos Braña, presented today, Thursday the 27th of June, at the House of Tourism, the tourist promotion campaign ‘Suma todo… al mejor clima del mundo’ (‘Add all… to the best climate in the world’) to be run at Mainland Spain between the 1st of July and the 30th of August, aiming to attract national tourism to the city during the summer season.
The campaign, supported by the association of hotel owners of the Grancanarian Capital City, will have a strong presence in Andalusia and Madrid, two regions that have a high weekly frequency of direct flights with Gran Canaria, making it possible to plan break-trips to the city.
The bus of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria will go across Andalusia
The most remarkable promotional action will be done with a 15-metre-long double-decker bus, decorated with the image of the campaign, that will go across the Andalucian capitals of Seville, Cordoba, Malaga, Cadiz and other towns of the Costa del Sol, inviting Andalucians to “Live the 22ºC experience in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, away from the high summer temperatures they have in their home cities”.
The bus of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria will start up its tour on Monday the 1st of July, at the Plaza de San Francisco, in front of the Town Hall of Seville, one of the most emblematic places of Seville’s Old Town, and highly visited by pedestrians.
The bus will remain in Seville until the 7th of July and from there it will continue its tour in Cordoba, where it will be shown from the 8th to the 14th of July. After that, it will be driven to Malaga to promote the destination Las Palmas de Gran Canaria between the 15th and 21st of July, visiting Benalmádena and Torremolinos, in the Costa del Sol, between the 22nd and 24th of July. The promotional tour will end in Cádiz, a city that will receive the bus of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria between the 25th and the 31st of July.
This roadshow has the objective of becoming a moving billboard, whilst also being a tourist information and promotional office that, along with welcoming visitors interested in the city, will also serve as a meeting office for hotel owners to have workshops with travel agencies and wholesalers.
The image of the campaign ‘Add all… to the best climate in the world’ highlights the experience of enjoying holidays at the Grancanarian capital with an average yearly temperature of 22º1C (71.6ºF), labelled as “the best climate in the world” by the University of Syracuse (USA), while also proposing experiences of shopping, gastronomy, culture and history at the main urban destination on the Canaries.
Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in www.muchoviaje.com
The roadshow with the bus of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in Andalusia will be complemented by the on-line holiday operator www.muchoviaje.com, offering travels packs with flight and hotels of the Grancanarian capital from only 122€.
The operator has set different tools for the city on its website to promote the destination, like banners, a microsite, the promotional video of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, references on the break-trips section of the site and the sending of a newsletter.
Muchoviaje.com had 32 million visits in 2012, and only in last year’s July it registered 4.842.000 visits, making it a true platform to promote the city in the Spanish Mainland.
Besides, ‘Add all… to the best climate in the world’ will give out leaflets with the holiday offer of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria as an urban destination where different tourist routes are proposed to be done in one day, 3 days and a week to visit the Capital City.
Promotion on telephone boxes
The campaign will also have a presence on 200 telephone boxes in Madrid, Santander, Seville, Málaga, Cádiz and Pamplona, with the image of the campaign. Besides, the promotional video of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria will be shown on 7 screens at an urban circuit that sells the tourist card of Madrid, commercial ads of the Grancanarian capital will be printed on info leaflets of the Sevilla Card, and at the tourist map of Madrid that offers the tourist card of Spain’s capital city.@LpaVisit
