Next Monday the 3rd of June, the City Council of Tourism of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria will start the new tourist promotion campaign ‘Discover the Capital City’ in the tourist resorts of San Bartolomé de Tirajana and Mogán, in the south of Gran Canaria, focusing of attracting 250.000 tourists to the capital during the summer season.
This campaign will be carried out during June, July, August and September in 5 shopping centres, 4 markets, 26 hotels (of 4 and 5 stars) and 220 tourist information points, from the Airport of Gran Canaria to the harbor of Mogán.
The campaign also includes direct marketing actions at the main tourist áreas; permament presence on urban furniture like marquees; information touchscreens at hotels; sale of guided tours, and the distribution of 60.000 brochures in Spanish, English and German, with information about gastronomic routes, shopping áreas, events Schedule and a tourist city map.
Tourist promoters will explain the strengths of the Grancanarian capital as an urban destination and perfect complement for the sun & beach segment. Councillor Barbero explained that the main objective is to get the 25% of tourists who spend their holidays in the south of Gran Canaria, more than a million tourists in these four months of summer, to come to visit the capital so they can get seduced by the wide offer of leisure, shopping, history and gastronomy. “A destination worth visiting, only 30 minutes away from the hotels and apartments”, he added.
Hotels, shopping centres and markets
The promotion of the city will be done through different ways: a polyptych brochure explaining the products LPA Shopping, LPA Taste, LPA Events, LPA History, the tourist card LPA Card, the guided routes service of the Tourist Bus, and urban routes able to be downloaded with smartphones and tablets.
The handicraft markets of Puerto de Mogán, Arguineguín and Puerto Rico, and the shopping centres Plaza, Metro, Kasbah, La Marea and Áncora will have a promotional booth where visitors will be given information and advise to prepare their trip to the capital with the help of the tourist promoters.
Besides, the city will be more visible with the modern and singular light vehicles called segways, which will be used by promoters to give out the information. The campaign will be supported with posters in urban marquees at Playa del Inglés, Maspalomas and Meloneras, on the accesses to the beaches, taxi ranks, bus stops, and shopping centres. The City Council will also have Welcome Meetings spaces at the hotels where tourist guides and excursion leaders will offer trips to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
Direct marketing actions also include the presence of tourist promoters of the city at the pedestrian areas of Tauro, Taurito, Playa del Cura and Puerto Rico.
